Amnesia Scanner x Freeka Tet: S.L.O.T.H. will take the audience of Fonomo Music & Film Festival on an interdimensional journey — at times beautiful, at times unsettling, always fascinating and intriguing.

Cracks in the system
Amnesia Scanner is a Finnish duo, permanently based in Berlin. Founded in 2014 by Ville Haimala and Matti Kaliala, the project is driven by a fascination with how music and live performance are experienced in the age of streaming and direct communication between artist and audience. They explore phenomena of sensory overload, system errors, and the deconstruction of contemporary culture. Their work — balancing between electronic music, performance art, and new media — redefines the concept of concerts and composition. Amnesia Scanner creates immersive sonic worlds where trap, rave, noise, and grime merge with mechanical narratives and artificial languages.

The aesthetics of deconstruction
Among their key projects are the debut mixtape AS Live [][][][][], the experimental radio play Angels Rig Hook (2015), the audiovisual project Lexachast created in collaboration with Harm van den Dorpel and Bill Kouligas, as well as the albums Another Life (2018) and Tearless (2020), where avant-garde electronic tropes blend with the classical song form. The defining characteristic of Amnesia Scanner’s style remains its raw, deeply synthetic sound — brutal yet refined. Their latest album, STROBE.RIP (2023), was created in collaboration with Freeka Tet — a French experimental artist and aesthetic hacker.

Freeka Tet – a hacker of perception
Freeka Tet is a New York-based creator who fuses animatronics, coding, sound, and memetics. His art hovers between internet absurdity and technological precision. He has collaborated with Aphex Twin, Oneohtrix Point Never, Childish Gambino, as well as brands like Google, Prada, Nike, and Margiela. Together with Amnesia Scanner, he crafts a performance where light, sound, and image cease to be separate media — transforming into one living organism.

An Amnesia Scanner performance is more than a concert — it’s a glitching ritual, dense, trance-inducing, and hauntingly beautiful, where the artists open a portal to another reality. This is not the future — it’s the present, just in a different format.
